Meet the Team

Marni Larsen, MSc, RD, Franchisee

Marni was born and raised in Cranbrook, BC. She grew up enjoying the outdoors, with weekends often spent on the nearby ski hill in Kimberley, BC in the winters, or at one of the many surrounding lakes in the summers. She became interested in the field of nutrition after having her own struggles with food and her weight – even though she was incredibly active. As a result, she started to research how food can impact your weight and came to discover just how important nutrition is for overall health. Through this process she also realized that she had a passion for nutrition! She decided to move to Alberta to study nutrition at the University of Alberta, and graduated with distinction 4 years later. After completing her dietetic internship in 2005, she officially became a Registered Dietitian and in 2016 she went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion, expanding her expertise and knowledge of nutrition even further. She has worked in a variety of settings over the years, but has always known that she eventually wanted to use her own personal experience and struggles with weight, and passion for nutrition to help others. She believes in balanced nutrition and helping people get back to their roots by enjoying more whole foods. As one of the owners of the Simply for Life clinic, she will work with you to set specific goals, while providing you with advice and guidance to help you meet all your goals – and ultimately enjoy long term health and wellness!

Jim Poon, Franchisee

Jim has always been interested in healthy living and has been an active member of World Health and Goodlife for over 24 years. He is also involved in a variety of sports, including recreational baseball and volleyball. Over the years he has worked for a number of organizations that are known for their customer service – including WestJet. As a result, he firmly believes in helping people and that customers always comes first. This belief is one of the reasons why he is excited to be one of the new franchise owners of Simply For Life.

Jamie Kay, Holistic Nutritionist

Jamie is a born and raised Calgarian with a love that lies in all health and wellness. Growing up, Jamie naturally enjoyed physical activities, such as swimming, hiking, and yoga - in which she was recently certified as a Yoga Instructor in Indonesia. Natural nutrition has always accommodated Jamie's physical lifestyle, as her family motto growing up was encompassed by the 80/20 rule. As Jamie grew into her teen years, she fell into the silent battle of body dysmorphia, which inevitably led to a nutrient deprived and restrictive lifestyle. Many concerns arose alongside this nutrient depletion - digestive inconsistencies, hormonal imbalances, skin sensitivities, mental sabotage, etc. Conveniently enough, her symptoms were only considered slightly abnormal, so there was no place for intervention of conventional medicine. Taking her health into her own hands, Jamie found that education, self exploration and unconditional patience served as a limitless health aid. Jamie decided to deepen her understanding for holistic health, enrolling and graduating from CSNN with high academic marks, appreciative case study participants and a refreshingly innovative approach to health. Jamie's approach involves 100% client participation, asking them to animate their own personal motivations for their own personal transformations. Jamie encourages her clients to direct their focus towards mindset, sustainability and self-care. Jamie believes that health is not necessarily measured in inches, nor should it involve deprivation. Health is an elusively ever developing concept that requires an emphasis on individuality. Health can be confusing, most definitely frustrating, unconditionally rewarding, BUT above all else; health is a journey. Take the leap! Having your cake and eating it too always tastes better when its shared.
