Meet the Team

Barbara Thorne

In 2013, Barbara went to Simply for Life in Airdrie and tipped the scale at 252 pounds! It was that moment that she realized she had to get back on track and quick. Barbara dropped 130 pounds and has kept it off ever since. If you want someone that walks the walk and talks the talk, then Barbara is the person for you! Her commitment to health and good nutrition has led her to her current passion of owing her own Nutrition Business and is now the Franchisee/Nutritional Consultant with Simply for Life Airdrie & Cochrane. Barbara is an ISSA Elite Trainer that specializes in Nutrition and Fitness. Barbara believes in living a healthy lifestyle through whole foods. She empowers others to build lifelong healthy relationships with food and to find enjoyment in cooking, creating and sharing meals. Barbara is excited and anxious to meet all the clients at the Airdrie and Cochrane locations and helping them build their healthy relationship with food and to reach and maintain their goals.

Kim Knapp

Kim Knapp grew up in a small town outside of Victoria, BC, and moved to the Calgary area in 2012. She started as an avid equestrian at the age of 7, and also was involved in dance throughout her school years. Kim has always maintained an active lifestyle through horseback riding, yoga, spin, and hiking. In 2015, Kim lost a very special Aunt to colon cancer, this loss sparked a new journey for her into the field of holistic health and wellness. Kim has completed a Fitness & Nutrition Expert Certification through Fit Chicks, and is continuing her studies with a Holistic Nutrition Diploma through the Nutraphoria School of Holistic Nutrition. She plans to specialize in Pre & Post Natal Nutrition, and Women’s Hormone Health. As if that isn’t keeping her busy enough, she is also becoming a yoga teacher! Kim has a strong passion for helping others achieve optimal wellness through fitness, nutrition, and mindfulness; and she firmly believes that having a solid foundation of moving and nourishing your body is the best investment you can take in your health. In her spare time you can find Kim spending quality time with her boyfriend on their new acreage, riding her two horses Mac and Cheese, and enjoying the outdoors with their three dogs, Joey, Maggie and Sable.

Isabel Diedericks

Isabel was born in South Africa and lived in countries including England, Ireland, and Russia, until immigrating to Canada in 2007. Isabel has completed her Bachelor of Applied Science, Applied Human Nutrition with distinction as well as her Masters of Applied Nutrition in Ontario at the University of Guelph. Isabel has experience in multiple areas of nutrition including: clinical nutrition, long term care, community nutrition, food service management, as well as nutrition-related research. During her time at the Upper Grand Family Health Team, she delivered individual nutritional counselling to patients with various health conditions and provided education regarding therapeutic diets (e.g. heart health, diabetes, PCOS, celiac disease, anemia, etc.). Isabel has performed malnutrition screening in seniors and worked closely with doctors and patients in diabetes clinics. She has also delivered Intro to Diabetes group classes as well as helped with facilitating Craving Change workshops. She loves to deliver health-related presentations to various audiences. Isabel’s attitude toward food and nutrition is keeping it fun and flexible in order to keep it enjoyable and maintainable. She believes that with education and some planning, supporting a healthy balanced diet can be achieved in even the busiest lifestyles. Isabel is prepared to provide evidence-based education, and be a strong source of support and motivation in order to achieve whatever health goals her clients have in mind. She has found that working as a team is the best approach to reaching goals. Although Isabel has never considered herself to be “sporty”, she enjoys to get active in fun ways including playing squash, biking, hiking, and taking part in fitness classes. She enjoys spending time in the kitchen creating fun new dishes to enjoy with friends and family.
