Meet the Team

Adam Pottie, Franchisee & Nutrition Advisor

Adam is the Owner-Operator of Simply for Life Antigonish. He is also a Nutrition Consultant and Personal Trainer! Adam has always had a strong passion for health and fitness, as well as a drive for helping others reach their goals. He decided that he wanted to work in this field over 12 years ago when he started working with a Personal Trainer outside of Halifax. Being immersed in an environment with many passionate health professionals, he started volunteering at a cross-fit centre while working with athletes and became a certified Personal Trainer within a year of being there. Six years later, Adam attended a meeting about Simply for Life and saw how dedicated SFL co-founder, Bruce Sweeney, was about helping others and the products offered behind SFL. The second he spoke to Bruce of this passion, he knew that this was where he was supposed to be. Adam started studying nutrition and became certified as a Nutrition Consultant. He became a franchisee for over three years and started working as a consultant with clients for weight loss, and this was when he realized that a huge component of nutrition is highly psychological. Rather than focusing mainly on the physical body, Adam works with individuals to shift their mindset on nutrition and health overall. Adam provides motivation, direction, and on-going support to his clients while trouble-shooting and adapting the programs he offers to address client’s unique issues, obstacles and needs. He works to meet the individual lifestyle of each client for long-term success and satisfaction. Adam’s inspirational approach to health and fitness makes the Simply For Life experience nothing but positive for each of his clients.

Julissa Stewart, Management and Sales Director

Julissa was born and raised in Antigonish, NS. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Sociology and furthered her studies in Behavioural Interventions in June 2018. She has always had a passion for improving the lives of others and became heavily involved in mental health advocacy throughout her time at university. Julissa co-created a group on campus through an organization called and designed numerous campus-wide initiatives to increase mental health knowledge and awareness to students on campus, while advocating for change in mental health literacy and overall wellness in the community. She became a certified Jack Talks Speaker and provided mental health education to over 5000 high school students across the province. She knew that by the time she reached the end of her studies that she was going to pursue a career in health and wellness. From personal struggles with her own mental health and disordered eating, nutrition and wellness has always been a huge interest, and challenge, in her life. She met with Adam for a consult in March 2018 and started the ‘Simply Keto’ Program. Adam helped her realize how important nutrition is related to the mind and how significant having the right mindset is in reaching our goals. Through Adam’s guidance and motivation, she started to realize that the values behind Simply For Life strongly resonated with her own and she quickly became a part of the team! “Simply For Life has completely shifted my mindset and perspective on life as a whole and how I view food when it comes to my health, and I want others to gain this clarity and positivity the way I did, because I KNOW that it works!!”

Scott Baker, Nutrition Advisor, CSEP-CPT (Certified Personal Trainer)

Scott was born and raised in Southern Alberta. As a newcomer to the Antigonish Area, Scott brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience he has gained since he completed his Exercise Science Diploma from Lethbridge College. After graduating with honours in 2010 and successfully receiving his certification from the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP), Scott went on to work in two different clinical settings where he helped to develop a Healthy Lifestyles program. He delivered this program to a multitude of client to improve their overall health through physical activity, sensible eating and education. While with Healthy Lifestyles, Scott also trained with a broad spectrum of individuals from hockey players to those in the general population. He worked for private hockey training camps, fitness facilities and a high performance training centre. Scott believes that this training experience helped him become a well rounded trainer. Scott’s eagerness for being more active and living a healthy lifestyle started at a young age. He spent most of his youth hiking/camping in the Rocky Mountains of Southern Alberta. That eagerness for an active lifestyle turned into playing more competitive sports; such as rugby, football and soccer (which he still plays to this day). Scott’s passion to help others drives him in his work. He works diligently in continuing to educate himself on new and safe ways to exercise. Giving the best service for his clients has always been a focal point, which he takes very seriously. Scott is excited to start his new life in Antigonish with his young family and can’t wait to see what this beautiful, vibrant Nova Scotia community has to offer. Sarah MacIsaac, Nutrition Advisor

Sarah was born in Antigonish and lived here most of her life. Health and fitness has always been an important part of her everyday lifestyle. Growing up, she kept active playing a variety of different sports, including volleyball at a provincial level. She graduated with a degree in Psychology and French at St. Francis Xavier University in 2014. It was during her time at St.FX she fell in love with the fitness scene and decided to pursue a career in personal training. Not long after becoming certified as a trainer, she dove into her Holistic Nutritional course and decided to pair the two to help others reach their goals. Sarah specializes in 1 on 1 clients, running boot camps, teaching fitness classes as well as providing nutrition counselling and support for those looking for healthier lifestyles. After spending 4 years working in the fitness industry, she is thrilled to be back in her home town. By utilizing her own background in health and fitness, education and courses, she a wide variety of knowledge to share with those around her. Sarah is excited to meet new clients and work with them towards reaching their own personal goals. “I truly believe the in the positive and uplifting atmosphere at Simply For Life. At the end of the day the clients need to know that they are being taken care of every step of the way. I am very excited for this opportunity to join the team, and I can’t wait to get started!”
