Alaina’s real journey with Simply For Life first started back in 2010 – it was a perfect fit for her
busy house. Having four young children at home, Alaina saw it as an opportunity to help not
only herself – but her entire family. Today, Simply For Life continues to be an important part of
the foundation for Alaina and her family’s journey towards continued health and wellness.
A few years back (20 be exact), Alaina made a choice to become healthy. Tired of feeling tired
and having always struggled with her weight – she very reluctantly joined a gym with a friend.
It was at that point, her journey began, and it has been a constant evolution – marathons,
triathlons, CrossFit, hiking the Fundy Footpath, lane swimming – Alaina enjoys a variety of
activities and makes self-care a priority. “Because being active was not always natural to me, I
realized that it was important to always try new things. Some may work, some may not – but
there is no failure in trying. Having a daughter with a significant physical disability has taught
me to never stop appreciating your health, and to respect your body. Just keep moving, and
just keep smiling.”
Alaina and her husband Rob started their family in 2003, and by 2008, they had four girls. Time
for activity was a challenge, but it was still there; however, nutrition became a challenge.
Introducing Simply for Life into their home in 2010 took a lot of stress off Alaina, and she saw it
as the perfect opportunity to teach her girls the importance of making healthy choices –
another step in the journey.
Having worked within the non-profit industry for years, Alaina decided to make a change and
joined the Simply For Life team in 2016 to offer administrative support and was part of that
team until she returned to school in 2018. Alaina studied Child and Youth Care, focusing in
Trauma-Informed Care, and graduated from Oulton College in 2020. Today, Alaina is currently
working towards her Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certification and very happily returned to the
Simply For Life team in June of 2021 – this time as a Nutrition and Wellness Coach. To the clinic,
she brings a wealth of administrative and organizational experience, as well as a very practical
approach to making nutrition work in busy, everyday family households. Coach Alaina is
looking forward to the next chapter in her journey!
